Description

Great New Tour for the COVID-19 Emergency!

The Museum is very concerned with providing our visitors with a safe and enjoyable experience as they tour HMCS Ojibwa. To this end, we have been closely following developments, and the recommendations of local, provincial and federal authorities.

We are now offering an interior tour of the submarine, with modifications to accommodate safety concerns and keep our visitors and staff as safe as possible.  We thank you for your understanding, and we recommend that you watch our website (hmcsojibwa.ca and/or theelginmilitarymuseum.ca) for the most up to date information.

We have put on our thinking caps and developed a whole new tour to tell you the fascinating history of this boat and its accomplishments. You will leave with a whole new appreciation of how these unique vessels work, and why they are so effective at what they do - and why submariners are very special people !

This new 50 minute tour will take you through the boat, entering the forward torpedo room, and exiting from the after torpedo room, and will give you a greater appreciation of the cramped conditions the crew had to function in.  Following this brief interior tour, you will return along the starboard side of the submarine, and see items and banners showing the areas you have just visited, and your guide will give more detail and explanation of how the vessel and crew operated.

Due to the confined nature of the interior of the vessel, tour sizes will be limited to 5 visitors, and children will be limited to 12 years of age and older (testing has shown children under the age of 12 have difficulty with the time and social distancing requirements of the interior tour).  All visitors taking the interior tour will be required to sanitize their hands, and wear a mask and gloves (which the Museum will provide) while on the vessel.  Contact tracing information will also be required from all visitors.

Due to limited tour size, pre-booking your tour is strongly recommended.

PAYMENT will be made on your arrival at the site. We accept cash, all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, etc.) and TAP TYPE Debit cards (during the COVID-19 emergency, credit or debit is preferred). Your booking reserves the time and type of tour you want - no payment is required at the time of booking.

We ask that you please arrive at our ticket office at least 15 minutes before your tour time.
